Hello there – thank you very much for visiting the website.

I have put together some fantastic new shows which I hope you’ll enjoy, as well as some lovely nostalgic trips into my late father Benny Green’s archives.

I’ll be presenting new radio shows for you via this website, celebrating and sharing the music I am passionate about, that has featured in the programmes that I have been fortunate enough to broadcast to you over the years.

I know that many of us love the kinds music I’m sharing on LGRADIO.ONLINE, so it’s a real privilege to have you along, to join in with this adventure and share our love of superb music.

So, let me tell you about the shows I have for you:

 

IN THE 50’S – All the music and the stories around the artists who shaped the decade that had everything. We’ll be hearing all those magnificent songs from Buddy Holly, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino, Sam Cooke, Jackie Wilson, Ruth Brown, The Drifters, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Dean Martin, Julie London, Peggy Lee and of course, Elvis.

IN LOVE WITH MOTOWN – Were you dancing in the clubs in the 60s? If you were, then the chances are, it was Motown that got you and your friends on the dance floor – so why, half a century later, are we all still so in love with the output of the Detroit label. Of course we’ll be hearing all that incredible repertoire along the way, featuring The Four Tops, Marvin Gaye, Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross & The Supremes, Junior Walker, Smokey Robinson, Jimmy Ruffin, The Temptations, The Isley Brothers and so many more.

IN CONCERT – Please join me as I drop in on the various clubs, concert halls and festivals all over the world to enjoy the greatest artists of all time, captured live in concert over the past 75 years or so. For the first few episodes, I’ve raided my collection and picked out some Aretha Franklin, Joe Cocker, James Brown, Ella Fitzgerald, Bill Withers, Georgie Fame, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Diamond and Gladys Knight for you, but please do drop me a line and let me know which artists you have enjoyed seeing over the years – I ‘d love to hear from you, either by the contact page, or if you’d rather, the email is: info@lgradio.online.

IN THE MOOD – If you enjoy the amazing music of the Great American Songbook, featuring recordings and stories concerning the likes of Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald, Matt Monro, Rosemary Clooney, Dinah Washington and Tony Bennett, then this is definitely the show you will not want to miss. Along with the legends from the past, I’ll also be sharing recordings with you from many of the artists that are flying that vital musical flag today, including Harry Connick Jr., Gregory Porter, Jamie Cullum, Curtis Stigers, Jane Monheit, Halie Loren, Morgan James, Michael Buble and many others – they are all here, waiting for you to tune in to. IN CONVERSATION – As well as my interviews with the likes of Van Morrison, Robert Lindsay and others, I have also raided my late father, Benny Green’s archive and have dug out some of his conversations with Paul McCartney, Tony Bennett, and many more – so please do drop in and listen.

IN THE DARKI hope this will be the show that transports you back into a Cinema in your past. I’ll be sharing the stories behind the most loved movie soundtracks of all-time. We’ll listen to the song choices of Hollywood’s great Directors – finding out what and why they chose particular songs to accompany the movie’s storylines and action, as we go In The Dark together. IN A LIFETIME We never forget where and when we first heard a particular song – I’m really looking forward to sharing the stories behind the songs, as well as the artists who made so much of the music we all love – This is our in depth series, exploring and celebrating the work of the icons. First subjects for the opening month, include Dusty Springfield and Elton John.

IN THE GROOVE As well as the people who really enjoy great swinging jazz recordings, this series is also for the kind of people, for whom the idea of liking Jazz appeals, but aren’t perhaps sure where to start. The shows will feature music and stories concerning the likes of Oscar Peterson, Lester Young, Buddy Rich, Stan Getz, Charlie Parker, Duke Ellington, Earl Bostic, Coleman Hawkins, Ben Webster, Count Basie, Miles Davis, Errol Garner, Ramsey Lewis, Sonny Stitt and more – please do send me your Jazz requests, either via the contact page, or if you’d rather, the email is: info@lgradio.online.

INSPIRED – I’m really looking forward to sharing with you, the stories behind some of the biggest hits of the last fifty years – and then we’ll hear them performed by Artists who have been inspired by the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, Van Morrison and others, to record their unique take on these classic songs. Some of the Artists featured in the opening shows include, Diana Krall, Ella Fitzgerald, Harry Connick, Gregory Porter, Christina Aguilera, Emeli Sande, Rod Stewart, Marvin Gaye, Don McLean, with their choices of songs.

IN THE BENNY GREEN ARCHIVES – I’m so proud to be bringing you this series – from the extensive audio archive that my late father, Benny Green left behind, these shows feature Benny’s musings on the great songwriters, singers and musicians that he knew and worked with, as he speaks from a position of herculean authority.

In addition, I have carefully curated playlists for you, featuring the likes of The Beatles, Diana Ross, Bruce Springsteen, Nat King Cole, The Eagles, Frank Sinatra, Elton John, Elvis Presley, Billy Joel, Julie London, Al Green, Nina Simone, Neil Diamond, Michael Buble, Stevie Wonder, Fleetwood Mac, Ella Fitzgerald, Dusty Springfield, Marvin Gaye, Louis Armstrong, The Rolling Stones, Peggy Lee, Tom Jones, Sam Cooke and so many others – these exclusive playlists run all the way through the night, from midnight until 7am the following morning, when we start all over again.
